Guest Lecture on E-Commerce and Online Marketplace by Mr. Jashisha Gupta and Mr. Bimal Aryal, who are the CFO and COO of Daraz Nepal, was successfully conducted at Patan College for Professional Studies on 3rd March 2020.

Daraz Nepal is an online marketplace and logistics company that is a part of the Alibaba Group, which is known to be the world’s largest retailer and e-commerce company. Daraz Nepal was also one of the first e-commerce services to pop up the e-commerce market and since then, has grown to become Nepal’s pioneering e-commerce service.

The e-inauguration of the lecture was done by the guests Mr. Jashisha and Mr. Bimal, and Dean Academics Er. Ajaya Sharma in the presence of Head of Department (Computing), Dr. Swati Sah, and faculty members. The lecture aimed to teach the students about what e-commerce is about, and comprised topics of such as value chain and its typical marketplace models. The talk ended with an Q&A session which cleared up doubts that the students of B.Sc. Computer Science and Software Engineering could have about the nature of an online marketplace which the guest speakers were more than happy to answer. It was very informative and interactive, helping the students to become more knowledgeable, which is crucial, especially in the age of technology where e-commerce is becoming rapidly prevalent.
