Guest Lecture in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing by Dr. Bal Krishna Bal, who is the associate professor and head of department of computer science and engineering at Kathmandu University was successfully conducted at Patan College for Professional Studies in 28th Februry 2020.

Dr Bal Krishna Bal is an Associate Professor and the Head of Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Kathmandu University. He did a PhD in Computer Science & Engineering from Kathmandu University and a Masters and Bachelors in Informatics and Computer Engineering from Volgograd State Technical University, Russia. He is one of the pioneering researchers working with Artificial Intelligence and Nepali language, embarking in this field as a Natural Language Processing Researcher at Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya (मदन पुरस्कार पुस्तकालय) in 2005. Besides leading computer science and AI education and research, he is also associated with various innovative organizations such as KEIV Technologies, Language Technology Kendra, and VistaTEC.

The e-inauguration of the lecture was done by the guest Dr. Bal Krishna Bal and Dean Academics Er. Ajaya Sharma in the presence of Head of Department (computing), Dr. Swati Sah, and faculty Dr. Ganesh Kumar Dixit.
The first part of the lecture covered topics on Machine Learning and its types, along with their applications and use cases. The lecture concluded with introduction to Natural Language Processing as a concept and the methods used to achieve it. This lecture was inspiring and very helpful for the students of B.Sc. Computer Science and Software Engineering, both for their semester projects and their under-graduate projects.
